CARE INSTRUCTIONS

SOLID WOOD AND VENEER

Use a high grade furniture paste wax such as Simonize, Minwax Finishing Wax, or Butchers’ Wax on wood componets about every six months or more depending on furnitures usage and direct exposure to sun. Rub some wax onto the wood, allow to dry for a few moments, then buff off with a soft, clean, dry cloth. You may also use a transprent liquid furniture polish which does not contain silcone, stains or abrasives. Follow the manufacturer’s directions and apply with the grain. Be sure to remove any excess with a clean dry cloth.

Do not use furniture oils or sprays (for example, never use Pledge, Liquid Gold, Endust, or Old English Lemon Oil.) Do not use ammonia-based products on wood components. To minimize physical damage to your table, ALWAYS use coasters, tablecloths, and hot pads.

Wood finishes can be harmed by certain vinyl and rubber compounds when they are left in contact with the wood surface for exended periods of time. Some notebook covers, clear opaque mats and coasters, and the rubber or plastic feet on such items as ash tray may contain these materials. As an alternative, you may use self-adhesive felt feet or pads on objects which may mark the wood’s surface. Avoid indentions from use of pencils or ball-point pens by using a protective non-vinyl writing pad.

Materials used on our furniture can be damaged by sudden temperature or humidity changes and extended exposure to sunlight, extreme heat, extreme cold, or humidity extremes. We recommend that furniture be kept in the same environment that is considered healful for people: 65-75 degrees F and relative humidity of 40% to 60%.

WOODEN DRAWER BODIES

Exterior: All standard Antoine Proulx finish options

Interior Drawer Bodies: Maple with clear finish

METAL COMPONENT

ALUMINUM

This finish will need to be windexed periodically to remove finger prints and is otherwise virtually maintenance free. NEVER USE an abrasive pad, cleaner, or chemicals.

BRONZE

This metal is meant to patina naturally and will change overtime. We suggest using a feather duster on the bronze and do not put any chemicals or cleaner on the surface.

DINING TABLES WITH EXTENSIONS AND LEAVES

Our dining tables fabricated with an extension mechanishm to accommodate leaves are meant to be extended for occasional use only. Keeping the table extended with the leaves in at all times is not recommended. The weight of the table top and leaves (coupled with gravity) could cause the table top to sag over time.

PHILOSOPHY

The characteristic sought most by the Antoine Proulx line of handcrated furniture is the contrast achieved by combining “industrial” steel with luxurious, fine woods. The contrast of “indus-trial” and “luxe” and natural beauty which is allowed to age gracefully is the philosphy of Antoine Proulx.
